Assessment of small hydropower potential along the Tano, Ankobra, Pra and Bia rivers, framing renewable generation and equitable water allocation as a single question rather than two competing ones.
The assessment covers small hydropower potential along four of Ghana’s western rivers — the Tano, Ankobra, Pra and Bia. Its framing is deliberate: generation potential and equitable water allocation are treated as one question, because a siting decision that ignores downstream allocation simply moves the conflict rather than resolving it.
The technical work combines hydrological modelling, river basin mapping and energy generation simulation to identify viable installation sites across the four systems, with the basin characterisation carrying as much weight as the head-and-flow arithmetic.
Outputs are the technical reports and siting recommendations that carry the findings into Ghana’s renewable energy and climate commitments, giving the assessment a route into national planning rather than a shelf in a project archive.
