Elected to lead the graduate student body and, by virtue of the office, sat on the University Governing Council — the institution’s highest decision-making organ.
Election to the presidency of the Graduate Students Association carried a seat on the University Governing Council, the institution’s highest decision-making organ. That meant carrying graduate student positions into deliberations on academic policy, fees, welfare and infrastructure, alongside senior management and external members.
The association’s position was built through consultation across faculties and represented directly to management — converting scattered grievances into a small number of arguable, evidence-backed asks. A council table rewards a short list that survives interrogation far more than a long list of complaints.
